Dear lord, if the government effectively saved Bear Stearns, then why can’t they just take over American and United. It’s like the airlines are daring them to come in and do so.

    >if bear stearns had gone under, it would have triggered a credit crisis — like what happened during the great depression (where all we had to fear was fear [of putting money back into banks] itself).but if an airline goes under, it’s not like people will stop flying. if anything, other airlines will step up to fill the void.so, although i support bailing out financial institutions like bear stearns, i don’t want to see taxpayer money spent on bailing out airlines.
