>You Cannot Have It Both Ways, Hughie

>Hugh Jackman makes his latest “I’m not gay” statement (to Parade, of all magazines), and winds up slightly putting his foot in his mouth:

Jackman also said he was uncomfortable denying he was gay.
I’d be happy to go and deny it, because I’m not, he said.
But by denying it, I’m saying there is something shameful about it and there isn’t anything shameful.

That’s when you say “none of your business,” Hugh.

I appreciate his latter statement, but it does goes against the one before it.

In addition, his statements about mixed-race babies does have a bit of condescension to it, at least in my view.

I don’t think people should be feted for doing the right thing.

    >i have to admit i don’t understand people’s fascination with his sexuality. if he says he’s straight, then so be it. i’ll reserve my outrage until (if ever) he has a rock hudson peeling-back-the-curtain moment.that said, even if he were to deny being gay, that wouldn’t mean he’s not bisexual. and anyway, he doesn’t have to issue a denial of anything… he could simply affirm that he is completely heterosexual and has only ever had sexual contact with women.
